Paul Colman is gearing up to release a new solo album, From the Salt Land to the River, his first release of all new material (his album of covers, called History, released in 2007). This project follows the 2011 reunion of the Paul Colman Trio, which collectively released a new album, aptly titled Return.
About the new project, Colman states, "The last solo album I released was in 2005 and I have a whole bunch of songs that I would LOVE to record. One reason that it's been 7 years since my last solo album is that I was a member of The Newsboys from November 2005 through December 2008 and focused all my attention on writing, recording and touring with them. Another reason is that I left my record label in 2009 and have not had the finances to fund my own project since. I wanted to write and record songs that I was passionate about and not ones designed to fit into any specific market and in order to do this I left my record label. However, without the backing of a label, there has been no budget for a new album. So, I thought I’d see if there was anyone out there who was interested in helping me release these songs. Any amount that you can donate will get me closer to returning to the studio and with your help, I hope to start recording again in June with the album releasing in October this year."
